There are a lot of attractive towns and countryside within an easy drive of Denia. Some of the best known places to visit are:
| Guadalest |
South-west of Denia, Guadalest boasts a Moorish castle perched dramatically
on the edge of a steep slope. Other town attractions include small museums and gift shops. The Guadalest valley
is also worth exploring with its high mountain peaks and a fertile valley full of fruit and nut trees. |
| Gallinera Valley |
North-west of Denia, the lovely valley of Gallinera, also known as the cherry valley,
is best seen in the Spring when the blossom of the almond and cherry trees covers the slopes in pink and white.
Many quaint and traditional villages can be found along the valley including Alcala, Margarida, Benialfaqui and Benitaya. |
| Xativa (Jativa) |
North-west of Denia, Xativa has some wonderful plazas, fountains and
buildings, many dating from the 18th century. It is dominated by a fortress which offers birds-eye views
of the surrounding area. A twice-daily tourist train runs between the town and the castle. |
| Javea |
South of Denia, Javea is a delightful fishing port with a fine beach
and historical buildings & churches. Well worth a visit. |
| Calpe |
South-west of Denia, Calpe's most famous landmark is the
Penon de Ilfach, a dramatic headland soaring 330m up from the sea and geologically related to the Rock of
Gibraltar. Calpe also has some lovely beaches and is a charming town in its own right. |
| Algar Water Falls |
Beauty spot near Callosa D'en Sarria with water falls, pools, and paths along the riverside. Take a towel: it's difficult to resist going in!
There are lots of restaurants and souvenir shops along the road to the water falls and also several other attractions have set up nearby including the Algar Cactus Co |

for refreshments at one of the many cafes and bars. |
